Payroll and HRIS consulting for ADP Enterprise, Workday and PeopleSoft

Payroll and HRIS conversions, data interfaces and system management.

Apptech moves employees off legacy systems after a merger, acquisition or system retirement. We build the data interfaces that connect payroll to benefit, 401(k) and garnishment providers, and we manage premise-based systems such as PeopleSoft. The senior consultant who scopes your project is the one who does the work.

What we do

Most of our engagements fall into one of three areas.

01

Legacy system conversions and employee onboarding

When a company is acquired, merges with another, or retires an internal payroll or HR system, its employees have to be brought onto a system that pays them correctly from the first check. We map the legacy data to your current platform, load employee records, pay history and year-to-date balances, and run parallel payrolls until the results agree.

  • Employee master records and job and pay history
  • Earnings, deduction and tax code mapping
  • Year-to-date tax and deduction balances
  • New company codes and paygroups
  • Parallel payroll testing before cutover
02

Custom data interfaces and data extraction

We write the extracts and interfaces that move data out of your HR and payroll systems: reports for internal use, and files for benefit carriers, 401(k) recordkeepers, wage garnishment processors, banks and the general ledger. We work from the receiving party's file specification, test the file, and schedule it to run without manual steps.

  • Benefit carrier and 401(k) files
  • Wage garnishment interfaces
  • General ledger and bank (ACH) files
  • Extracts and reports for internal use
  • History extracted from systems being retired
03

Management of premise-based systems

For companies that run PeopleSoft on their own servers, we can take responsibility for keeping the system running and current. That covers patches and tax and compliance updates, W-2 and year-end processing, and database management, along with day-to-day payroll support.

  • Patches and payroll tax updates
  • Compliance updates and reporting
  • W-2 and year-end processing
  • Database management and tuning
  • Production payroll support

Common questions

How do you help when we acquire a company or retire a payroll system?

We move the employees onto your current platform. That means mapping the old earnings, deduction and tax codes, loading employee records and year-to-date balances, adding company codes or paygroups where needed, and running parallel payrolls until the results agree. We can also extract the history you need to keep from the old system before it is shut down.

What kinds of interfaces do you build?

Files and feeds between your payroll or HR system and benefit carriers, 401(k) recordkeepers, wage garnishment processors, banks and the general ledger, plus extracts for internal reporting. We work from the receiving party's file specification and test the file before the first production run.

What does PeopleSoft system management include?

For a premise-based PeopleSoft system we apply patches and payroll tax and compliance updates, run W-2 and year-end processing, manage the database, and support production payroll. You can hand us all of it or only specific tasks, such as the year-end cycle.

Do you support both premise and hosted ADP environments?

Yes. We support ADP Enterprise in both premise and hosted environments, including payroll production support, custom ADPR, ReportSmith and SQR reporting, Autolink, self-service, open enrollment, and timekeeping integration with ADP eTime and Kronos.

How is pricing handled?

Before work begins we review the requirements and give you a written scope and cost estimate, so you know what a project will cost before it starts.

Which platforms do you work with?

ADP Enterprise, PeopleSoft and Workday are our main platforms. We also work with Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM, UKG Pro, and older or in-house payroll systems, particularly when data has to be extracted or converted. If your system is not listed, call and describe it.
